Change Your Mindset!

Nothing grinds my gears more than a negative Nelly. Mainly because I used to be that negative Nelly...surprise!! Yup, that was me. Always complaining, always feeling sorry for myself, always just had a negative outlook on things. Okay... I'm over exaggerating a little, but I did in fact have a negative outlook on things that I truthfully had no business being negative about.

Let's get one thing straight people. Everybody has problems. Everyone has things they're struggling with. Everyone has flaws. Everyone has hard days. Every dang person on this earth is dealing with something of their own. There are several different ways we can react to our problems and negative situations. The majority of people resort to negativity.

Pity me. My life sucks. Nothing ever goes my way. I'm so sick of trying for nothing. BLAH BLAH BLAH. No one wants your negativity!!!! STOP! Please just stop. LET GO OF THAT S***. Choose to deal with your issues in a different way.

My mindset has changed completely. We've all been that person. Something goes wrong and we automatically resort to feeling sorry for ourselves and being negative Nellies. Yay, that's just freaking awesome. Something negative happens and we react with more negativity. The negativity just keeps piling higher and higher. Makes sense right? Sounds super effective!! Wrong.

NEWS FLASH: Reacting negatively to an already negative situation isn't gonna solve your problems and most certainly won't make you a happier person. I think you all know that. Think about it for a second. Think long and hard...

Rethink your reactions to negative situations. Rethink how you communicate with others. Rethink your actions. Adjust your mindset. Wake up everyday with a positive attitude. Wake up everyday with the drive and ambition to make this world a more positive place. Say hi to someone you don't know, pay for someone's coffee, offer to help someone if you see they're struggling. It's the little things. It's those types of situations that help avoid negativity, create positive relationships, and change this world for the better.

You don't know what someone is going through. You don't know what hardships/struggles that person is holding onto or facing. If someone else is negative, that does not mean you have to react with greater negativity. Instead, choose a more positive approach. Confront their negativity with positivity. This might in turn affect how that individual reacts in future situations and encounters.

We often tend to react with negativity and this is the opposite of what we should be doing. Spoiler Alert: No one wins with negativity.

I wake up everyday choosing to have a positive outlook on things, choosing to see the best in the worst of situations, not letting every little negative thing affect my mood. Don't get me wrong, it can be hard. Never did I ever say this was going to be easy. Some days it takes absolutely everything in me not to be negative, to not feel sorry for myself, to not play the pity me card. It's life! Life is full of unexpected things, good days, bad days, and everything in between. We need to appreciate all of those days. Each day brings new experiences that make us stronger, more knowledgable human beings.

Lemme let you in on a lil' something. Changing my mindset has been the best damn thing I've ever done. I regret being so negative in the past, I regret not being a more positive person, I regret resorting to negativity and self pity. That digs a deeper hole. It makes you a more unhappy person. It resolves NOTHING. I tell you all of this because I want you all to change your mindsets. I want you to know that it's possible. I want you to know how much better it makes life.

I appreciate so much more. I see so much more now that I have chosen a different outlook and perspective. Life is damn good even through all of the hardships and struggles. These struggles make us more aware. We learn from our mistakes. These things make us stronger individuals. Do not let one negative situation affect your entire mood. Do not let negativity cloud the beauty of this world or control your life.

Nothing is guaranteed. You are not guaranteed tomorrow. Stop living for tomorrow. Live for today. Make today a good day, make today the BEST day. Live everyday like you might not see tomorrow. Sound silly? Well it's not. It's the truth. This life is blessed and there's so much opportunity out there. You're going to miss out on these opportunities if you're so wrapped up in dwelling on things you simply cannot change. It's selfish to be negative. It's unfair to cloud this world with extra negativity. The world needs more positive people.

What the hell are you trying to say Mik??? I'm saying STOP BEING NEGATIVE. Change your mindset and live a better life. Make this world a better place. Become more positive, choose the outcome of your days, choose to be happy. It's that simple really. Not everyday is going to be rainbows and butterflies. I get that. However, with a more positive outlook you will see a lot more of those days than the negative ones.

React positively in tough situations. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop with the "pity me." Surround yourself with positive people. Encourage others to be more positive. Be optimistic. Ask for help if you're struggling. Help others through their struggles.

Choose to be positive. It's a simple concept really. Don't read into it too much. Just practice it everyday. Practice being more positive, practice having a better outlook on things. Practice makes perfect.
