FAQ

Hey friends!! Welcome to the FAQ page. This is set up to answer questions that I am asked/receive frequently. I will continue to update this as I receive more questions and provide you with answers to the best of my ability.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS?

I discussed this a little on the Welcome Page, but I've been active all my life through sports, extracurricular activities, etc. I stopped playing sports after high school and began using the gym in college. I have fallen in love with the gym ever since. At first I wasn't quite sure what I was doing in the gym (as most people don't when they first start out). My workouts weren't very structured and I kind of just messed around and did whatever I felt comfortable doing. This past year and a half I've really stepped it up in the gym and got outside my comfort zone. Side note: Don't be afraid to look silly trying new things, we've all been there!! You're never going to feel comfortable if you don't let yourself go through the uncomfortable first.

HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED?

Motivation has never really been an issue for me. No one is motivated 24/7. I think that if you find something you love doing, you don't really need motivation at all. It's about finding something that sets a fire in you and makes you feel on top of the world. Find a way to move your body that you enjoy. It doesn't have to be lifting weights. It could be yoga, hiking, biking, etc. Same with the nutrition aspect of things, find a balance of fueling your body with foods that leave you satisfied and energized. Eat foods that are good for the soul too. It all boils down to how much you want something. If you don't enjoy it than you probably won't stick to it. Long story short, find what you love & you'll love what you do.

HOW DO YOU STAY POSITIVE ABOUT YOUR FOOD INTOLERANCES/SENSITIVITIES AND DEAL WITH YOUR IBS?

At the end of the day it is what is is. Stressing, dwelling, throwing a pity party, you get the gist, it doesn't change anything. The struggles are still there. I've learned to take it one day at a time, to listen to my body, and give myself grace. Not everyday will be easy or amazing but that's life. I know that I can overcome anything that comes my way because I am STRONG and CAPABLE. So are you. If you are struggling with something, know that you are not alone and that you will always come out stronger because of it. With food intolerances and IBS comes being mindful and aware. I do not restrict anything, but I do my absolute best to steer clear of foods that do not agree with my body. I don't miss out on memories or life because of this and I do my very best to remain positive even when I am feeling my worst. There's always something or someone who has it worse than you out there. It doesn't mean that your struggles are any less important, but it does put things into perspective a little. Do the best you can and love yourself no matter what. That's my best piece of advice. <3

MACROS OR INTUITIVE EATING?

I've done both. They have both served a purpose throughout my journey and progress. Intuitive eating is works best for me as I know what my body needs to feel good and stay healthy. However, macros are an amazing tool if you need some structure, have a time sensitive goal, want to learn more about portion sizes, etc. Intuitively eating is more suitable for me right now. I am very content and happy with where my body is at. This is a lifestyle so I do not feel the need to be super strict when I know that I can be mindful and successful without tracking at this point in time. Health and fitness is something I genuinely love and eating intuitively allows me to eat whatever/whenever I want in moderation. Balance is the key to happiness IMO... find what works best for you! Don't worry about what everyone else is doing - if it works for you that's all that matters!! :)
