Self Destruction & The Fitness Industry

The fitness industry can be a destructive place, especially for those who may be in a vulnerable state, have no background knowledge regarding fitness or nutrition, and/or simply have no idea where to start. Let me explain further. Some of this industry does a lot of good and some of it a lot of bad. There are great coaches/trainers out there, but there are also a lot of not so great ones. There are some awesome supplement and fitness companies out there, but there are also a lot of not so awesome ones. See where I am coming from? There’s a WHOLE LOT of shit out there. A lot of information. A lot of products. A lot of people looking to make money (which is fine, I might add), but not when the company or coach is marketing products and/or false information and un-sustainable results.

False information is all over the place. It’s EVERYWHERE. I see it every day. I hear it every day. I overhear/see people talking about low calories, no carbs, excessive cardio, skinny tea’s, fat burners, etc. I watch people self-destruct unintentionally through following fad diets, working for quick fixes, or investing in a coach/trainer who doesn’t put their health first. Most people don’t know any better. Most people genuinely believe this is the only way. They think this stuff is healthy and okay. This is what is SO wrong!!! The misinformation, the false testimonials, the BS weight loss products; all this shit is SO incredibly destructive to the general population. This is why the fitness industry is destructive. They make millions and billions and trillions of dollars by manipulating individuals who have absolutely NO idea what they are doing. The industry feeds off of lost & vulnerable individuals. It’s disgusting.

I’m not just talking supplement and fitness companies in the industry either. There are plenty of coaches and trainers out there that there that fall into the destructive category as well. There are coaches out there who could give a shit about your overall health and mental well-being. There are coaches out there who will treat you as if you’re just another subject or client on the list. These coaches are in it for the money and they are out to create these HUGE fitness transformations (to make them look like a great coach), so much that they will put your health in danger to do so. Disgusting, right? Once again, a lot of people genuinely believe this is the only way. They genuinely beleive these coaches are doing a good job because they don't know anything different. They think low calories and hours of cardio is the norm. NEWS FLASH: It's NOT. If you are with a coach that's doing this to you, STOP!!!!!! FIND A NEW ONE. INVEST YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. Your health is at risk. If you are not training for a bikini competition (and there's even grey areas with that), you should not be miserable AF on a day to day basis because of low calorie, no carb, low fat, hours of cardio BS. Excessive cardio, low calorie meal plans, and being miserable is NOT the only way, but as I stated most people don't know any better. It’s sad. It breaks my heart.

I hate being a debby-downer but this is the harsh reality of the industry sometimes (a lot of the time). It’s is SO important to self-research before jumping into anything. It’s important to read reviews before investing in something. It’s important to check labels and be aware of what you may be putting into your body. It’s important to ask about prior clients progress (maybe ask past clients how their experience was if applicable), ask about a coach/trainers mentality and goal when working with clients, and discuss YOUR goals, thoughts, and concerns above all else. Don’t just sign yourself away to some company, product, or individual without doing the proper research and reading into something first!!! I am so serious when I say that this could SAVE you from a future disaster.

A coach or trainer can be fully certified but suck pond water!!!! I’m so serious, please be careful! Just because a coach has certifications doesn’t mean they are a good one. It doesn’t mean they are a good match for you. It doesn’t mean they’re going to put your health and well-being first. A certification is just a certification. It is not a perfect depiction of who they are and how well they will suit you. There are plenty of trainers that shouldn’t be certified in my opinion. If you put a client’s physical appearance before a client’s overall health & well-being, YOU ARE A POS, end of story.

It seems as if everyone is trying to make themselves a place in this industry (and that’s fine). However, there’s WAY TOO many people with very little experience (even those who may be certified) selling cookie cutter meal plans, workout plans, and adjusting macros. Just because someone looks good on the outside doesn’t mean they feel good on the inside. Just because someone looks like they have some experience or knows what they are doing, they may not. A few years of lifting experience does not make you qualified to tell someone what to eat or what not to eat. You are not a dietician. I am not saying all people fall into this category and I’m not here to call anyone out because YOU DO YOU BOO, but be conscious and aware of what you’re getting yourself into. Your health is not something to toy with.

Don’t settle for BS products, false information, or mediocre coaches/trainers. If it seems too good to be true or sounds too easy – IT PROBABLY IS. We all know there's no such thing as quick fixes and if you were unaware of that - I'm here to tell you right now, THERE'S NO SUCH THING. Results don’t come from skinny teas, fat burners, low calorie foods, over-exercising, or cookie cutter meal plans. They come from HARD WORK. They happen when you are taking care of yourself in all aspects… your mental and emotional are JUST as important as your physical. All of those things combined create a happy and sustainable lifestyle my friend. Invest your money in the right places. Invest in your health. Put your trust in credible people who have shown worthy of you. Do not jump into something without credibility, doing further research, or being 100% sure it's the right match for you. If you have doubts, there's likely good reasoning behind that.

There's going to be misinformation everywhere in life. There's going to be people who genuinely care and want to help, and then there will be others who don't and just want to take your money. At the end of the day, it's up to you to dedicate some time to differentiating between the two so that you can set yourself up for long term success.

If a company is asking you a million favors but not valuing YOU, YOUR opinion, or failing to give you some sort of incentive in return (it's not all about incentives but if they are asking you to do something, pay for something, or are not valuing your true opinion & want you to type up/say something off of a pre-written/typed up sheet) - NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. If a coach doesn't give a damn about how you feel (not only on the outside, but on the inside), BYEEEEE!!!! YOU HAVE TO BE SMART. It's okay to say no, it's okay to wait things out until you find a good match; DO NOT SETTLE.

Okiieee, dass my tea. Don't self-destruct. Don't allow the industry to take you in as another vulnerable victim. Just know that YOU WILL find your way through SUSTAINABLE ACTIONS & CREDIBLE RESOURCES. Don't give up & as I stated before, don't settle until you are 100% sure you are doing the right thing and surrounding yourself with the right people.

One last thing, BE HONEST. Don't support/voice your opinion about products you don't genuinely believe in. Why? Giving misinformation about products continues to draw in vulnerable individuals who don't know any better. They will likely buy into something if someone they truly trust voices a positive opinion about it. Make sense? My point being, steer clear of this. Be true to you and the products/people you truly value. Don't fall victim to the industry influencer BS. You don't need products or people to make an impact.

BE THE IMPACT.
